The ‘Dio’ earrings each combine two reproductions of ancient Greek coins: a drachm (323–281 BC) and a small hemiobol (500–480 BC). Their obverse sides depict Athena and a leaping lion, while the reverse sides show a lion and a small scorpion. Athena, goddess of wisdom, strategy and battle, was also the patroness of the arts and sciences.
